Mahyue, inspired by the Bassa (Liberian) word for ‘girl’
Mahyue ['mäh·yo͞o] represents the little girl within me—my inner child—whom I tucked away long ago but who survived hidden in my drawings, sketches, and works of art. Through healing and self-reflection, I reacquainted myself with Mahyue and finally let her run wild and free. Her stories and lessons define who I am today and live within my works as my signature since 2019. As I heal, explore, and create, I share my story to connect with the inner child that lives within us all, each carrying our own fantastical stories to tell.
As such, Mahyue Studios is a multidisciplinary incubator and my current studio space that emphasizes contemporary storytelling through practice, healing, and cultural exchange. Mahyue Studios offerings include Community Gatherings and The Mahyue Artist Journal.
