I’ve been looking for fun things to do in the city, aside from the bar scene. While perusing Facebook, I've noticed some cool activities and events pop up on my timeline. I admit, I screenshot most of them, but recently, I started saving them in my calendar and purchasing tickets. It's one thing to say 'I'm interested' in an event on Facebook and another thing to actually go to that event. It's interesting how Facebook is utilizing its platform for more marketing purposes now. It can get annoying seeing random ads at times, but last weekend, a friend and I finally decided to act on a Facebook ad and try out Escape Room DC - a total win!
It was FUN! Who thought being locked in a room for an hour solving a mystery game would be so exciting and entertaining?! We got to try our hands at being detectives for an hour by playing the ‘I Was Framed!’ game at the DC location (there’s another site in Alexandria, VA). Finding the culprit and the key to 'escape the room' was a little harder than expected. Luckily, our team, including 4 other players, was awesome! We meshed and worked well with each other to successfully solve all the riddles and puzzles (we had to use multiple hints but who cares lol). We beat the game with only 30 sec left on the clock. YES TEAMWORK! I’d definitely go back again to try some of the other games with a group of friends. They have a lot of different themed games too, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Titanic, Friday the 13th, Ghostbusters, The Mummy, Edgar Allan Poe, etc. I want to try them all lol.
Escape Room DC is perfect for a group of friends looking to add some variety to the weekend adventures with some good ol' nostalgic fun! It’s best to book your game earlier in the week because the games/rooms sell out quickly. The limit is 6 players if you are joining a game (2-3 people) and 8 players if you go with your own group, which also ends up being cheaper per person but the rooms are all the same size - not that big. Also, we didn’t find much to do in the surrounding area (Glover Park) that night so be sure to make some plans afterwards to continue the fun. You won’t want to go home after that experience!
